Maybe when you hear the name Las Vegas, the first things that may come to your mind are the slot machines and casinos. But there is more to Las Vegas than just its casinos and gaming. Spaniards from the Antonio Armijo party, who traveled north and west along the Old Spanish Trail in Texas, named Las Vegas, which is the most populated city in the state of Nevada.

It was in 1905 that Las Vegas was established and it was in 1911 that Las Vegas became a city. Near the end of the century, Las Vegas became included as among the most populated American cities. Las Vegas encompasses areas of Clark County, which are unincorporated and surround the city, especially in the resorts near the Las Vegas Strip. The 4.5 mile stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard is outside the city are or outskirts of the city itself. It can be seen in unincorporated towns of Winchester and Paradise.
The first mega resort in Las Vegas opened in 1989 and was named The Mirage. It caused work of people and construction from the downtown area of Las Vegas to the Las Vegas Strip. Tourism dropped in the downtown area but condo constructions increased. This is how it all started for the Las Vegas that is so well known today. The primary factors of the Las Vegas economy today is its gaming, tourism, and conventions, which helped the dining and retail industries. Examples of these games are the electronic slot machines, card games, craps, roulette, and more.
