Seoul is the capital city of South Korea with ten million people. It is also the largest city in South Korea which has 23 million people in the metropolitan area. It is the country’s economic, cultural and political centre. Seoul is also ranked as a major city.

The city is located in the country’s northwest region with the North Korean border just 50 kilometres away. This city has hosted the 1998 summer Olympics. It was then ranked the third most expensive city in the world.

Famous Tourist Places in Seoul

There are many places in Seoul worth visiting. Some of the famous places in Seoul are Gyeongbok Palace, 63 Building, Children’s Grand Park, Changyong Palace, Millennium Plaza, The National Museum of Korea, The National Theatre and The National Museum of Contemporary Art.

Gyeongbok Palace

The Gyeongbok Palace in Korea is a place where you can find the entire Korean History. This Palace was founded by King Taejon in 1394 and was serving as the base for the Joseon Dynasty, which was the last Dynasty of Korea. This building is one of the examples of Korean architecture with its amazing towers and a stone bridge. This is good place for relaxing and is worth a visit.

63 Building

The 63 building in Korea is the tallest building in the country. It was opened in 1985 with 63 stories. It is a major attraction for the people and from the top of the tower you can see the spectacular views of city skyline. This building also houses shops, restaurants, aquarium and an IMAX theatre. You can have a very good time in this building.

Children’s Grand Park

The Children’s Grand Park in Seoul is one of the largest Children’s Parks in the world. This park houses a botanical garden, a zoo and an amusement park. This is also a favourite picnic spot for the school children around this area. In this park you can also acquire knowledge about many animal and plant species. The main advantage is that, the cost for the amusement park here is very low when compared to the other parks. If you bring your children to Seoul, make sure that you don’t miss a trip to this park.

National Museum of Korea

The National Museum of Korea, which is located within the walls of the Kyongbokkung Palace, has about 1,000,000 significant historic items. It displays the traditions, triumphs and the struggles of the Korean people. This museum also serves as the centre for preserving the Korean culture.

National Museum of Contemporary Art

The National Museum of Contemporary Art has nine exhibition halls. It also has a sculpture garden, which is popular for its unique design. It contains both Korean and international works by various sculptors.
